Sunday, March 13, 2:30pm

Our winter concert explores the concepts of faith, family, and love and the way they interact. How the families and faith traditions into which we’re born influence who we love; how those whom we love restructure our conceptual map of the world, our upbringing, and our faith. This concert features the world premiere of a new work by Lansing McLoskey—You Have a Name and a Place. This piece sets texts from five Mormon poets of the LGBTQ+ community reflecting on self-discovery, personal struggle, and the conflict between same-sex love and the faith traditions that have historically condemned it. The poets and the composer provide more questions than answers, but the message is ultimately one of compassion and acceptance.
The program will feature works by Lansing McLoskey, Judith Weir, Gabriel Jackson, Ted Hearne, Michael Gilbertson, and Maurice Duruflé.
